DJ Alex Kennon a rising star in the Ibiza club scene
He lives a dream of many young DJs. His dream became reality. He is a rising star. He is DJ Alex Kennon, specialist in mixing different types of sounds that combine elements of electro, techno, and pure house creating unique themes. His set is heaps and heaps of different sounds even including folk and circus. Let’s see what this Italian DJ/producer can say about his “journey”:
Thank you Alex Kennon for taking the time to talk to us…You are a rising star in the DJ scene. Can you tell us more about the man Alex Kennon?
Alex: I call myself a normal guy, ‘‘almost’’ paranormal, sociable, with a strong passion for music ever since I started playing classical guitar at the age of 9. When I said normal person I meant that I’m like all the others with my ups and downs trying to live life and trying to make the most of it.
We have many young DJs in our community dreaming of a DJ career. Can you tell us about how you got started?
Alex: The passion for music was passed on to me by my father, a great lover of sounds of the 70s and 80s, with his techniques 1200. I started the approach with the console on a local radio at age 14 and followed with the first evening in the beach club in Italy. In my 18s I started playing in real nightclubs and each time on larger and larger events, to become a resident of one night club in Italy. Now I have settled down in Ibiza working on my musical productions that I have been doing with great care since 2008. And at the end I can proudly say that on July 15th my EP on vinyl was released: ‘My favourite colour’ published by the German label Sexyzoop records.
We know Ibiza is very difficult to start as a DJ. Can you share some of your secrets with us?
Alex: Even if there were any secrets I wouldn’t tell them, as you need to keep them, that is why they are called secrets, but there are not any really. The ideal mix would be being consistent, modest, down to earth, and patient (do not try overdoing things), use your brain and do what you love. Also, be prepared to make sacrifices for it! Then the results will come for sure!
You are doing great with social Media. How important is social media for you as a DJ?
Alex: Today they are fundamental, and I must say that it is, however, a way to stay in constant contact with people and acquaintances. What I don’t like is when someone thinks it’s a confessional . I prefer to turn to an interested audience and critics. It shall stay a showcase for those who may not have much space in this environment..
Ibiza is that magical place that everybody dreams of. What is Ibiza for you?
Alex: Ibiza for me is like a book, there are pages that will inspire you, and others – to be honest only just a few – that do not. It’s a beautiful island that gives you a chance to be involved. However, it’s not the Eldorado and you have to love the island and earn your place on it. The extraordinary thing is that there is a lot of nationalities which are difficult to find in other parts of the world.
What I wish for myself is to become perfect in my industry to a level at which it can be said that I am a true professional DJ in this field
What are you hopes and dreams for the future?
The dreams we see in fairy tales, I like to live in reality and to take steps forward with a smile on my face, my professionalism and desire to make them, producing and mixing always as if I do it for the first time. What I wish for myself is to become perfect in my industry to a level at which it can be said that I am a true professional in this field. Perhaps a little dream is to travel, to discover and confront different people and places.
