How to find a house on Ibiza
How has your Ibiza summer been? Ours has been very busy! Running a B&B is more work than expected. However, we are having loads of fun. Our guests are from all over the world: from New York to Berlin, from Mexico-City to Amsterdam and Paris. Some are visiting Ibiza for the first time; some of them have visited ‘our’ island for the tenth time.
How to find a house on Ibiza?
What they all have in common, however, is the fact that each of them is unique and has their own story. Some are here for the ‘fiestas’, others want to relax, do some yoga and want to explore Ibiza’s deserted beaches. And some of them just dream along with us; they share our dream of living on Ibiza. I get a lot of emails with questions about our move to Ibiza: how to get work or how to find a house? How to meet new people? What about insurances? And so on, and so forth. First of all I would like to thank you all for sending the messages. I love to help you and answer your questions. So keep sending me these messages!
Are you ready to find your dream house on Ibiza?
Your financial situation
Of course it is important to have a good insight in your financial situation. If you decide to live here it might be a good idea to spend a week here and look at some houses. This gives you an idea what the prices are and how much you need to save or earn. On Facebook there are two good pages where you can find some apartments and houses. You can search for ‘Ibiza property rentals’ or ‘Apartments and houses for rent’. Or, when you speak some Spanish, buy a local newspaper and check the advertisements. This is the cheapest way, because you are not paying any commission fees to the broker.
The perfect time
The perfect time to search for houses is November till January. The house owners are very willing to let their houses during wintertime and you will be able to negotiate a good price. Since Ibiza is a very popular destination the prices will go up in spring. Sometimes you are asked to pay for a whole year in advance. This will lower the price too, but you have to think carefully if you really want this.
When we started searching for a house, we really wanted to be in the north of the island. I am really curious where you would like to live?
