How to handle a parking fine on Ibiza

You can find parking meters all over the world and also in Ibiza. However in Ibiza they work completely different. You need to pay a parking fee when you park your car in the bigger cities in Ibiza. In this post we want to share with you what you should do when you get a parking fine in Ibiza. We assure you that after this post you will have a lot less stress when you happen to return to your car too late on Ibiza

Oh no a parking fine on Ibiza now what?

Ibiza never stops surprising us… We were in Santa Eulalia, our home town by the way, and we received a parking fine… In Amsterdam you curse for an hour and then you slowly accept that you have to pay a fine of 50 Euros for your stupidity. However, the funny fact is that in Ibiza everything goes ‘mañana mañana’ (slowly), so being a bit late is no problem. When you get a fine, you still have an hour to undo your fine. Yes you read it right. You can still save yourself a lot of money…Bring in the marching band….:) So listen carefully because we are going to tell you this only once…

The parking ticket machine

Take your fine as well as the little envelope that you received along with your fine to the parking ticket machine. You press the blue button and pay 3 Euros to pay off your fine. Press the green button and a receipt comes out of the parking ticket machine. Put all the tickets in the little envelope, post the envelope at the bottom of the machine, and you’re done!

When you are really late there is still possibilities

But the story doesn’t end here. This fantastic tip we received from our friend Pam Vroom and this is what she told us:

“ More drums…even if you discover your ticket too late (and this goes for other tickets as well) you can still pay within two weeks (at the bank) and you end up paying only half the fine…it’s all about rewarding good behaviour instead of punishing the bad…enjoy Ibiza!”
