From Cosy Knits to Party Dresses Your Guide To Winter Style!

Winter 3 By Rebecca Harrison
The dreamy summer days  feel like a distant memory now the cold snap is upon us, but  if you’re anything like this fashionista you’ll be embracing winter and enjoying wearing layers upon layers of lovely warm fabrics in the latest luxurious colours and traditional winter fabrics. Gone are the days when a bikini and a cover-up would do, now we’re talking arctic chills and cold feet  and yes, we’ve been stockpiling the classics! Little black dresses, velvet, lace – even sequins! But where should you start if you’re planning a wardrobe overhaul?

Chic & Stylish Knitwear

While you may be tempted to pull on a festive sweater (reindeers, snowflakes, santa, etc) STOP! You’ve got festive fever! Take a break, sip a latte and remember that Christmas is just one day of the year. Knitwear should form part of your capsule wardrobe so make sure it’s something you can wear from December to February without dying of embarrassment every time you’re feeling chilly. If you really must channel Chris Cringle opt for a subtle reference, a knit with a jewelled collar or sequins scattered across it, or a lovely deep Oxblood item that (without the green) will have you feeling festive in no time. For something a little more trend driven, think Kurt Cobain (a firm fashionista fave) and go grunge this season. With an array of offerings from the likes of Topshop and Wildfox, look for jumpers or Cardigans that are distressed, have ripped hems and come in dark colours. Not only will they keep you cosy during the winter months  they’ll also look great teamed with denim hot pants when the weather turns a little more favourable (or velvet skater skirts after one too many mince pies).

Are you ready for the winter?

Perfect Winter Party Dresses

Winter brings with it an array of social soirée’s. From parties with work colleagues to catching up with family and friends – our diaries seem to be fully booked at this time of year! The classic LBD will see you through a multitude of occasions, this season and next, but if you really want to make a statement, slip out in sultry sapphires and cobalt blues  Gucci style.
For a subtle hint of shimmer  we love Hervé Léger’s long sleeve bandage dress in plum. Cut just off the shoulder it oozes movie-star glamour without being over the top. If you’re looking for a striking lace ensemble the Belle dress from Jones + Jones is stunning. Covering it up where it counts but with a sexy plunging neckline and heavy fabric, this is definitely a head turner. New Years Eve anyone? When you’re party dress shopping this season – refer back to your fashion 101 and remember that lace, velvet and sequins all look great at this time of year  any year! Pick pieces that you truly ADORE – don’t just buy for the sake of buying or you’ll be feeling the pinch when your party picks undoubtedly end up in the end-of-season sales. A Girl Can Never Have Too Many…

Shoes! Shoes! Shoes!

Something we couldn’t live without. The perfect way to transform an outfit, we love this time of year. Forget dainty sandals big bold boots have arrived. Move out of the way! From wellies (okay slightly less glamorous) to killer knee highs you’re not prepared for winter unless you have a couple of pairs of trusty boots in your wardrobe! If the snow is falling, pick out a trusty pair of Hunters. Available in a range of styles (our favourite is the Regent Apsley) they should be your go to when the weather is wet, windy or anywhere in between. For a boot-iful shoe that is perfect for mid-day meets, we recommend Proenza Schouler’s suede platform ankle boots. A stunning midnight-blue, they’ll dress up any daytime outfit whether you’re Christmas shopping or sipping cocktails with the girls. Come evening   you have two choices! Miu Miu or Alexander McQueen. Miu Miu’s suede ankle boots come with a killer heel and a glittery sole the perfect way to add a bit of glitz to a monochrome ensemble. If you’re all about the colour this season, Alexander McQueen’s berry boots are for you. A gorgeous colour, they’ll lift any outfit and guess what? We’ve found the perfect bag to go with them  the Kotur Espey plaid box clutch. Very festive!

So now it’s your turn
