Ibiza, what is happening in winter?
So…it is wintertime and the island is colder and quiet. Almost all the tourists have left and there is nothing to do in Ibiza…right? Wrong!Winter is an amazing time of year on Ibiza. The sun is still shining, people on the island have time for a chat, enough good restaurants and bars are open the whole year round and you still can have a long lazy lunch with your bare feet in the sand. There are nice events in winter like markets in the weekends, Halloween, the wine festival in December, Christmas parties, New Year, Tres Reyes, Sunday roast, dancing in Club Pacha and live music in El Teatro every night….
What makes people think that Ibiza is not worth a visit in winter?
The weather In summer Ibiza is hot! Not only temperature wise, if you know what I mean :)…But did you know that on Ibiza the sun is shining 360 days a year and that, when you find a good spot without any wind, you still have days that you can sunbathe in your swimsuit?
Yes, in summer all the clubs are open with parties every night. Bars and beach clubs invite good deejays and there are a lot of choices to make about where to go. Did you know for instance that the best party is held in DC10 the day after New Year’s Eve? And that Club Pacha is open every weekend?
Wining & Dining
In summer you find places to eat and drink on every street corner. Still, isn’t it true that if you’d like to eat somewhere in summertime, most of the time you’ll have to make a reservation and need your car to get there anyway? Well, in winter you normally don’t have to make a reservation and good restaurants like Yemanja, Nagai, El Clodenis and DIMI’s are still open. Moreover, in December the little town of San Mateu hosts its wine festival, so good wining and dining is definitely possible in winter.
Yes, in summer most flights are going straight from your home country to the island and most are cheap. However, did you know that in winter flights from airlines like Vueling and Iberia are still going every day of the week and that it only takes a few hours more to get there from Madrid or Barcelona and for a reasonable price below 200 Euros.
The island is so lively in summer
Yes, in summer a lot is happening, but it is crowded too….In winter you can park your car in a minute, locals have time for a nice chat and they can tell you all about the in-crowd parties and places. The shopping weather is great then and you get an upgrade at the car rental :).
I need a summer holiday to relax
Yes, in summer you can relax! Grab a sun bed on a beach, read a book and get into relaxing mode. Yet, how is this possible with another 50.000 people who, like you, are also tired and arrive from all over the world to come to the beaches on Ibiza to relax. In winter the beaches and bays are so quiet that you have to share the beach with only a few people…how relaxing! Moreover, in wintertime the beaches also provide you with great opportunities for a long walk or run to clear your mind and get some fresh air. It’s also a good temperature for hiking and fitness which gives you the energy boost you need to feel relaxed and healthy.
