Cala d'Hort

Cala d ‘Hort is on the far western edge of Ibiza and is a beach more remotely situated south of Cala Truja and Cala Carbo. It is a 10- minute drive from either San José or Cala Vadella. The only way to reach it is by car. Just follow the signposts from San José. If you have San Antonio as your point of reference, it is halfway between San Antonio and San José. The beach is small, about 350 metres long and about 35 metres wide.

It is an perfect summer sun destination which is highly recommended to families. It is a sandy cove that is tucked away just south of Cala Vadella with good amenities in the Mediterranean Sea. Not surprisingly, it’s all sun and surf! It is one of Ibiza's Blue Flag Beaches! The island is a window to the magnificent neighbouring small islands of Es Vedra and Es Vedranell, which are clearly visible in the distance. Adding to the grandeur and magnificence of the beach is the beautiful sunset which can be perfectly seen from its shore. Since it is backed by cliffs, you need to be extra careful when driving, especially during peak season when the road is reduced to a single lane due to the number of motorists passing by.

The bay has the most fantastic restaurant and is fondly called El Carmen. It is one of our favourites. We can never resist the taste of their paella which is a specialty of the house.

On the far right of the beach there is a restaurant called Es Boldado which is very good too. Boat owners can enter the restaurant directly from their boats because there are a pier plus a stairway that leads from the sea to the restaurant. Of course you can get to the restaurant by car too. There is also a small boutique, open in summer,  where you can buy designer swim wear. The beach also has showers, parasols and sun beds. A lifeguard is watching  the sun bathing guests, of which there are not as many as at the other beaches or bays because this is a relatively small bay. It's a perfect place to relax especially when you just want to enjoy the view of the magnificent sun as it slowly sets at the horizon right before your eyes, throwing fires of magical light and spreading its tired rays over the clear waters of Cala d'Hort.

If you come by car, you’re advised to be there early so you can park your car in the limited parking space. However, you may also like to park your car on the road to the bay when every space in the parking area is taken. This is especially the case during summertime when lots of people come here to enjoy the bay.

So enjoy paella with a backdrop of the mysteries of Es Vedra. This is Cala d'Hort!
