Es Pou des Lleo

Another one of nature's gifts to the east of Ibiza is Es Pou des Lleo Beach. The name is French, which means "The Pit of the Lion" in English. This is a quiet place with natural soft and fine sand and pebbles where you can feel the spirit of the ocean because of the presence of a fishing port and the dockyard with wooden boats. Because of the natural beauty of the seabed, snorkelling is the best way to enjoy Es Pou des Lleo. The beach borders shallow water and it is 60 meters long and 15 meters wide, which is relatively small, compared to other beaches on the island. At the beach there is a small beach bar, as well as toilets and a shower.

The beach is located approximately 5 kilometres from San Carlos (Sant Carles de Peralta). It is also near Punta d'en Valls where you can find an old tower, Torre d’en Valls, built to protect the island against pirate attacks in the past. Here you have a fantastic view of illa Tagomago. To reach this place, go along restaurant Salvado and drive up to the mountain. Restaurant Salvado is a fantastic spot too, located on top of the boathouses at Pou des Lleo with an amazing view. The restaurant is closed from November until March.

Another way to enjoy the place is to just walk barefoot and feel the raw earth on your feet or have some fun on your bicycle as you enjoy the very natural environment.

There are parasols and sun beds available for rentals. It is easy getting there by car, which you can conveniently park at the parking. From Ibiza Town go to Santa Eulalia (Santa Eularia del Riu), to San Carlos and follow the signs to Cala Boix until you reach the beach.

Join in and be part of the pit, where warm and friendly lions live to give you the best of memories only Es Pou des Lleo Beach can provide!
