Shopping
Virgil and I aren’t the “shopping” kind of people and we often buy through the internet. We definitely make an exception however, when we are on Ibiza, even Virgil does! The typical bohemian style and cozy decorated shops are a feast for the eye and you can actually find some things which are rare, handmade, exclusive or from upcoming, yet unknown, brands.
In Ibiza Town you can wander around in the little old streets and find just what you’re looking for. In the morning when it’s still quiet and most people are slowly waking from a heavy night or a late dinner, a little shopping is perfect to combine with some breakfast on a sunny terrace while Ibiza slowly opens its eyes. Because the shops are open till late in summertime, you may also decide to do your shopping then and have dinner afterwards in the old town of D’alt Vila for instance. Other fine towns to shop are Santa Eulalia, Santa Gertrudis and San Antonio. The shops in these towns are open throughout the whole year and offer almost anything from pretty boutiques, bookstores, shoe shops to an Apple-store or galleries and art shops from local designers.
Except from the “regular” shops there are a lot of markets on the island and there are also ecological farms with farmers selling fruit, vegetables and biological wines from their land.
The shops mostly open around 9-10 in the morning and close at 13.30 pm for lunch and a siesta. They open around 4 pm again and stay open till late, somewhere between 8.00 pm and 10.00 pm. In summer some even remain open until midnight. Some markets and department stores are open all day long and close ad midnight. Some shops and almost all the supermarkets are closed on Sundays.
Ibiza offers great shopping opportunities for each budget and every possible needs.
