Parking and Gas
Parking in Ibiza
You don’t need a parking ticket when you park your car at the countryside and in small villages. When you park your car in the bigger cities in Ibiza, you will have to pay a parking fee. Machines can be found everywhere that allow payment with coins. You’ll get a receipt and you’ll have to put this on the dashboard of your car. In case your parking time has expired, you’ll get a fine. However, the funny fact is that in Ibiza everything goes ‘mañana mañana’ (slowly), so being a bit late is not a problem. You just avoid your fine by paying 3 Euros at the parking machine within the hour of expiration. The machine then provides the receipt accompanied by an envelope. Put your parking ticket along with the fine in the envelope, post it underneath the machine and your fine will be canceled. Excellent, don’t you think?
In case you get a fine and you are unable to cancel it within the hour, you can go to the local police office to pay your fine. A fine for expired parking time is mostly about 50 Euros. But, even if you discover your ticket (and this goes for other tickets as well) and you go to the bank within two weeks to pay, you just pay half...rewarding good behavior instead of punishing bad...enjoy Ibiza!
Gas
Gas Stations are to be found everywhere on the island but be prepared for the fact that sometimes you might not find one at the countryside, so keep in mind that you have save some spare gas. The gas sold is either Super, Sin Plomo 95 and 98 (unleaded) and Gasoil (diesel). Most cars require Sin Plomo, which means unleaded. Most gas stations are open from 07.00 am to 11.00 pm, although there are some which are open 24/7. You have to pay in advance, so keep in mind how much gas you will need.
